Auntie DD Power Smoothie

We're in the middle of summer and with the heat wave on, everyone wants to stay cool and find something that is refreshing and tasty. Here's a recipe that is beyond refreshing and tasty - it is filling and full of nutrients that will give you energy, stabilize your blood sugar, and keep you full for at least 3 hours.

There's no sugar or honey added to this smoothie as the sweetness is derived from the frozen fresh fruit.

I've spent time playing with this recipe to obtain the best taste and thickness. I've tried organic skim, 1 & 2 % milk, but the only milk that gives it the thickness and taste I've enjoyed is the Soya milk - vanilla or original gives the same taste and consistency.

If you're not looking to use this smoothie as a meal replacement, and want to make it for your kids or friends and family, simply omit the ingredients with the (optional) label.

You do not need to add any ice cubes, but the berries and banana must be frozen.

You can also use the following frozen fruit in place of the banana - mangoes, peaches, or pineapple.

However, I've listed my favourites! Enjoy and here's to your improved health!

Auntie DDs Power Smoothie

cup vanilla Soya milk

cup plain organic yogurt

Handful frozen strawberries or your favourite

1 small frozen banana or of large banana

1 tbsp omega 3 oil (optional)

1 tbsp ground organic flax seeds (optional)

1 scoop natural vanilla or chocolate protein powder (optional)

1 tbsp glutamine (optional)

Add all ingredients into a blender, and blend.

Makes about a 12 oz serving.
